I'm off to Big Bend again for my 17th trip to the park, and for the second time I will be lugging pounds of camera equiptment either up mountians ot across the barren desert. Not sure on where exactly my dad, sister, and I will be going yet, but I am pushing them to make the hike to the South Rim.

Last time I was up there I didn't bring a camera and never got a chance to take pictures. Even photos can't describe the view from the South Rim. From the cliff you can see for miles clear into Mexico and the mountians of the desert are clearly visiable from your vantiage point hundreds of feet above them.

I'm also trying to convince them to make the hike to Emory Peak, the second highest peak in Texas, which is about the same elavation as Denver. The view from there is spectacular as well, especially the view of the Basin.

Well, I have to leave in about two and a half hours because the drive takes a little over half a day, so I'm going to get some sleep. I'll be back with stories and phtos to share.
